japanese anime and manga, with links hints and tips on where to get the
best and the latest manga editions, TCG cards and related items.
There's lots to see and do, so take your time, meet some new friends,
and make yourself at home.
A bit of history
Anime is the Japanese word for Animation
and Manga is most associated with cartoons and comics. With the
official translation meaning random pictures or "whimsical" pictures.
Manga has grown exponentially over the last 100 years due to the rapid
modernisation of japan and the free trading between it and America. Dr.
Osamu Tezuka is the godfather of manga, and after seeing a war animated
propoganda film called "momotarou" he was hooked. After watching
momotaru he set about making the very first manga cartoons (story
boards), based on popular themes, such as: kimba the white lion also
known as jungle emperor leo, Black jack and Astro boy encompassing
Drama, Science fiction and Horror respectivley.
So lets all pray and thank Dr Tezuka for his cool handy work in
bringing manga to the mainstream masses. As without him i doubt we
would have the amazingly popular series's we all love and play with
today. Akira, yugioh, Evangelion, Naruto and many more.
